The South Asian Centre of Windsor was opened in September, 1986 with funds provided by the Secretary of State, Government of Canada, under the sponsorship of Cultures of India Association. The South Asian Centre is a non-profit organization with a volunteer Board of Directors. With the help of many dedicated volunteers, the Centre provides a number of services.

Following is the Mission Statement of the Centre:

The South Asian Centre of Windsor exists to provide information, support and referral services to members of the South Asian Community and to foster harmonious co-existence with all segment of Canadian Society.

The Centre coordinates the activities of organized groups of women, seniors and others and provides resources to them.
